The youngest entrant, 25 year old Severin Hummer is a professional swimmer turned boat builder and solo sailor.
After completing the Severin decided not to continue with the 3,000 nm second leg, after building his 5.80 in one year and valiantly completing the qualifier from Lagos to Lanzarote, his first real solo ocean passage.
“I love my 5.80 and she sails well” said Severin “but at the moment a 3,000 mile passage feels a little daunting so I will sit this one out and follow my gut feeling.”
