Renaud’s 5.0 Timeline

  • October 2022: Launching of Capucinette at Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland and the beginning of all tests and navigation during the winter in bad weather.
  • 2023: Sailing and updating things like the size of the side berth.
  • Spring 2024: Final preparation of Capucinette i.e battery installation certification, locktite on all bolts of the windwane, all electricity checks, changing the EVA antislip foam, antifouling.
  • June 2024: Launching in salt water in Les Sables d’Olonnes and sailing single-handed non stop to Lagos.
  • During this sailing I had up to 45 knots of back wind. This makes me able to test nearly all sailing configurations and all fittings such as no winches, iridium go, Zoleo, twin sails, cooking bread and cakes, life on board, position of all equipment in the cabin.
  • Two major points need to be done:
    • I am not confident with South Atlantic Windvane for long sailing and will choose one other brand.
    • Installation of furling jib.
  • I will be back in Lagos by November to finalise preparation of Capucinette for the Transat and MGR.
